Around The World Theme

Tonight is our youth night and the theme is around the world. Kids are encouraged to dress in international costume (if they feel so inspired) and some connect groups are munching down on international snacks. I’m not sure how international mini pizzas and baklava is but hey, close enough.
Some of the games we have found to play are interesting
.
Fondo (Italian for bottom!)
Kids sit on chairs in a circle with 2 extra chairs. One stands in the middle. When the music plays they have to move from chair to chair to try and prevent the centre person from filling an empty chair. Never  played this before so ill let you know how it goes.
Lego challenge (Denmark)
You’ll need a Lego building board for each team and a heap of Lego in a large container. The games leader makes a Lego creation and hides in out of sight of everyone. The Lego container sits in the centre of the teams. One person from each team comes up to look at the Lego creation and must describe it to their team, without touching the board herself. Team members one at a time rush to the Lego box to gather Lego pieces (again one piece at a time) and bring them to the group, who then tries to reconstruct the original design.
New people can be sent to get Lego pieces but only one person must be responsible for looking at the leaders Lego. The most accurate after a certain length of time wins.
Pinata bash (Mexico)
Of course, the traditional piƱata bash is always fun. We have choc filled it with lots of lollies and chocolates, but have some on backup to throw randomly at the kids.
Chinese Whispers
Although we probably won’t have time for this, we always have a backup simple game. Also I have found the kids don’t mind the younger games. What really matters is the people they are playing with. And sometimes you can add a youth twist, like a Bible verse or a reminder about a special event in the whispers (eg… Big Exo Day Tickets will be on sale next term… you get the idea).
Sometimes we relate our message, sometimes we don’t, to the theme of the night. Tonight the message is being brought by one of our very loved leaders, Bailey, who is moving away to be closer to family. Im sure there will be tears aplenty. Pray for him if you have a moment, if you don’t mind.
